SmartGrid proposal in communities of Guama Municipality of Santiago de Cuba Province
Abstract
Socio-economic development in Cuba imposes the need to use renewable sources of energy for the electric power generation. In isolated rural communities of the eastern mountainous region of Cuba, these factors are combined with poor accessibility, absence of connection to the national energy system and strong economic potentials that need to be exploited. Therefore, this work includes a study of the potential of renewable sources of energy in the eastern mountainous region of Cuba and in particular in the municipality of Guama. It also proposes its integration into micro-SmartGrids that allow achieving the quality and stability of the electricity supply as a base to increase the socio-economic development of the region at the level of the rest of the country.
