Abstract

In recent years we have heard a lot about sustainability, effects of Global warming, scarcity of fossil fuels, etc. Brazil has most of its energy matrix supplied by hydroelectric plants. However, due to its geographical location, the Brazilian territory is practically sunny all year round. Solar energy can be harnessed as a source of heat for heating or for the production of electricity. The present work aims to evaluate the technical and economical viability of the implementation of an Autonomous Photovolt aic System in the community “Catalão Floating City”, located in the municipality of Iranduba, in the state of Amazonas.
